Dear Mr. Medvedev,

What Kind of a Country Did Our Fathers and Grandfathers Liberate from Fascism in 1945?

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. MEDVEDEV By GALINA SAVCHENKO – KIEV

On May 9, 2010 Komsomolec Denis and I, Galina Savchenko, Lieutenant of the Soviet Army came to Moscow from Kiev, in order to bow our heads to these great leaders -Lenin and Stalin – to be near the great Kremlin, underneath the wall on Red Square, at which place on May 9 of 1945, our fathers and grandfathers threw down the captured Standards of the defeated German enemy.

We were shocked at the speech made by President Medvedev of Russia. "They fought for our country" – "our free country", "our free Motherland"! But Mr. Medvedev did not once say that in 1945 our fathers and grandfathers liberated the Soviet Union!"

We were also shocked at the way the Red Square was decorated. The Lenin Mausoleum was fully covered up with the white and blue colors of the traitor Vlasov's flag. It is under this flag and its colors that Vlasov and these traitors served Hitler and the German fascists against their own people! The Kremlin Wall in which are buried the ashes of the Soviet heroes, was purposely covered with seating chairs for foreign guests, with the Vlasov flags flying over their heads. The Sacred Sign of Victory that the Red Army Heroes carried on the Red Square at the Victory Parade in 1945, took second place in the parade, following the traitorous Vlasov flag.

The walls were covered so that the people in Red Square could not see anything that was Soviet and Socialist. But the hundreds of Soviet flags and pictures of Stalin broke through!

After 65 years of Victory, is the present capitalist class "celebrating a Soviet Holiday?" They are not capable to match the dedication of our 20 year-old fathers, who defended the USSR and Europe from fascism. These hooligans and falsifiers of our history are trying to besmirch our Red Flag, which denoted our great victory!

Not in Russia, nor in Ukraine did the State Media even mention the Soviet heroes like Zoya Komsomolskaya, or the heroic Young Red Guards, or Alexei Matsieva, or Alexander Matrosov – who were the heroes that the young Soviet generation looked up to and followed. There was no mention of millions of Communists and Komsomols that filled the Red Square during the 1945 Victory Parade! But Mr. Medvedev also said: "all parties in Russia are equal before the Russian mass media!"]?

We were very happy and pleased, when the people in the Red Square saw the portrait of Stalin and the Call by the Canadian Friends of Soviet People and NSC – the real Communists – "BACK TO THE FUTURE! BACK TO THE USSR!" At the Bolshoi Theatre there gathered all the Soviet War Veterans. In front of the portrait of Stalin, there was piled high flowers. The Soviet war veterans, the front-line fighters, came one by one to the portrait of Stalin and kissed it sincerely, giving their respect and honor to their Commander-in-Chief! We lived through the anti-Stalin hysteria of Khrushchev, Gorbachev, and Yakovlev! The ill-position of Putin and Medvedev regarding the provocation of the Katyn tragedy that is blamed on the USSR and Stalin, just will not work! Stalin to us is the symbol of our Great Victory over fascism and the rebirth of the USSR after 1945. The more we know about Stalin, the more we honor him as a leader in an ordinary army tunic, who was very honest and dedicated to the Soviet Union. This was Stalin who united all of us into the great USSR and into the Soviet people. He led the epoch undertaking of collectivization, industrialization, as well as the building of the great BAM railway. Stalin made the Soviet Union a mighty nation in the face of the external and internal enemies.

The hearts and souls of all those Red Army Soldiers and all the Soviet people who gave their lives in the life and death struggles for this great VICTORY can rest assured: they fought and died for our Great Motherland – the USSR – which will again return as the bulwark for peace, progress and Socialism!
Just Vlasov colors of the signs as if those former traitors helped to win the Great Patriotic War. Putin and Medvedev did not allow the world-recognized flags and symbols to be shown. Even Winston Churchill would have been disgusted at this sacrilege!
