The problem of the splinter parties of left orientation in Russia has become the most critical and always emotionally charged discussions, but for many comrades, it is still not understandable. First of all, the constant question as to "When are you people going to unite?" are asked of all the parties, the most numerous being the CPRF and the oldest party after 1991: the RCWP.
On the question as to "What is preventing this unity?" the RCWP replies: only one detail, and that is the non-communist leanings of CPRF. These are the analyses that were done and is being done by the Congresses of Russian Communist Workers Party. This is based on the program and work of CPRF.
There are all sorts of suggestions as to how to achieve the much needed unity. RCWP is not against many suggestions at all. We are against opportunism in the first place. The other point is the problem between what the CPRF states in their program and what, in actual life, it does!
All of us remember the phraseology and statement by Gorbachev about "more Socialism," "more democracy," "more openness," while at the same time, he was doing all in his power to liquidate the USSR. The same in many instances holds true for the work of the Communist Party of Russian Federation (Zyuganov).
This is not just hear-say of RCWP but if you read letters and demands of rank-and-file members of CPRF, you shall be aware that they also criticize the departure between words and deeds as practiced by the leadership of CPRF.
Even in 1992, the RCWP discussed the question as to how to achieve this illusive unity. It was evident even then that the leadership of Zyuganov's party are none other than the former CPSU leaders of yesterday who sold the country to counter-revolution without a whimper! These same "leaders" voiced their opinions for market economy, privatization, and started to lead the country into capitalism.
Many dedicated communists at that time switched parties - some went into the CPRF and others into the RCWP. We wished those comrades who went into the "bigger party" luck, and hope that their ideas of working for change inside the CPRF produces results.
Those comrades who went into the CPRF, trying to bend the party more to the left, have tried for years, but unfortunately, with very little success. CPRF is sick within itself and this is seen not only by us, friends, but also by enemies. Our party is open to debate and our ranks are not closed. Our dedication is to Socialism and the resurrection of the USSR.
