According to the plan adopted in February of 1998 by the Minister of Defense of US - called the "Unified Command Plans" - Ukraine, Byelorussia, Moldavia and the Caucasus from October 1, 1998 were deemed to be zones under NATO command, which are based in Western Europe. These designated zones are nothing less than a potential theater of war maneuvers.
The first of this "zone of interest" is Ukraine, which in July 1997 signed an agreement with NATO as a partner in cooperation - the result of this is that Ukraine has become the base where NATO trains its forces and uses Ukraine territory as a training ground.
NATO's aim is to make Ukraine an eventual member and partner in the plans of NATO to isolate Russia.
Here are just some examples:
* The training facilities in and around Lvov, Nikolaevsk and Poltava are used to train foot-soldiers of NATO plus the air force staging and combat training.
* Training exercises to land thousands of US marines in and near Odessa.
* Visits of war ships to Odessa and surrounding ports from USA, Italy, Turkey, Greece and other nations.
* On August 26-27, 1998 there took place in Odessa a meeting of 78 parliamentarians from 16 NATO member countries on the topic of "Civilians and their control" and Ukraine acted as the host country.
* On September 28, 1998 there came to Ukraine a Military Delegation from USA and they oversaw the strategic bombing practices by USA air force near Chernigov region. This exercise was to see how NATO and Ukraine handle the Russian TU-160 bombers in case of attack. Ukraine was "proud" that with the help of USA it downed "16 Russian" bombers during this military exercise.
* On October 25, 1998 NATO held sea exercises called "Sea Breeze" where thousands of USA marines "invaded" the shores of Odessa with US warships participating in full war conditions.
The above was nothing less than war maneuvers to ascertain and learn about the terrain of the Soviet Union by NATO forces.The training seminars, officer schools for US and NATO officers, are all under the direction of the CIA, which has a branch in Kiev, military intelligence and also Counterintelligence of NATO has headquarters in Odessa. Section of Brussels European Command has representatives from their headquarters in Italy plus the Command of US 6th fleet is headquartered in Kiev... all of the above infringement of Ukrainian territory is supported by RUKH and other governmental parties of this nationalistic government of Ukraine, headed by the present president Kuchma.
The argument of the present regime of Ukraine is that this is just "peaceful cooperation and partnership" and it allows Ukraine to utilize the American money to build up its own Armed Forces.
No one is naive to realize that NATO and its center of intelligence and counter-intelligence is not situated in another country just to help build its army that might eventually be used against NATO!
The offices of US Rear Admiral Kenneth E. Barbor does not make any secret of the fact that he is studying the Meteorological and Oceanographic facilities in Odessa and Ukrainian ports. They spent over $1.5 million dollars just to lift the Russian submarine which had sunk in the estuary near Odessa, in order to study the vessel.
Now, due to the policy of the present Ukraine regime, other countries like Rumania have territorial claims upon Ukraine as does Hungary.
The aim of NATO is to use Ukraine as a base to contain, disperse or liquidate the mounting movements in Russia and Ukraine for the resurrection of the Soviet Union and Socialism.
President Kuchma and his clique state quite openly that their aim is to integrate Ukraine into the European Union and then into NATO membership. If this is done, then Ukraine shall find itself completely isolated from former Soviet republics.
Under pressure of NATO loyal Ukrainian officers are being purged from the army and loyal NATO appointees are then put into commanding positions.
People of Ukraine cannot allow this to proceed further and should demand that USA and NATO get out of the Odessa port and also to demand that all agreements between USA/NATO and Ukraine that were signed by the present regime should be annulled.
NO! To realization of NATO plans for Ukraine!
NO! To Plans to completely disassociate itself from other brotherly peoples!
NO! To US/NATO warships in the Black Sea!
