The latest choice of Yeltsin is Vladimir Putin, supposedly of the former KGB. When your enemies praise you, then everyone should know who you are. As soon as Yeltsin's latest puppet was in place (with the Russian Duma giving him the nod) the CIA made a statement that "we have good dealings and cooperation with Mr. Putin".
What more can be said!
In the last issue of NSC (September, 1999 - see below) we explained the scenario of all these puppets. There are serious questions that our readers would like to get answers to, such as:
* Why did the Russian Duma members agree to confirm this latest puppet of Yeltsin, who is very much liked by the CIA, IMF, World Bank and NATO?
* Why did not the Duma members, where the CPRF has a majority as "communists," reject this latest appointment and take on Yeltsin, even if he threatened to dissolve the Duma? Are the CPRF Duma members serious about replacing the present regime, or are they content to hold on to their highly-paid jobs?
* Since the bourgeois parties are forming election blocs to "head off" a Communist victory, why did the 6 communist parties and movements not join into an election bloc in order to defeat the present regime?
As friends of Soviet people and dedicated to the resurrection of the Soviet Union and socialism, it is only logical that our Soviet friends write to NSC and let our readers know their answers to these problems.
The election to the Duma in Russia is in December. It would certainly be appreciated by our readers if we had some replies from Nina Andreeva, Victor Tiulkin, Victor Anpilov, Oleg Shenin, Gennady Zyuganov and A.A. Prigarin.
As we were going to press, the following news item reached our desk from the newspaper "Trudovaya Rossia," organ of the Russian Communist Workers Party.
On August 28 in Moscow there took place a meeting of three leaders of parties and movements: "Communists, Workers Russia - For Soviet Union" - the leader of which is Victor Tiulkin; V. Grigoriev, member of the Russian Duma; and movement leaders of "Soviet Motherland" led by A. Kriuchkov and A. Prigarin. They all decided to form an election bloc for the December election called "Communists, Trudovaya Rossia - For the Soviet Union".
This election bloc is filled with workers, union representatives, strike committees, Soviets of workers and peasants and the trade union "Zaschita -Defense". The election symbol of this bloc is the Red Star with the hammer and sickle in its middle. The ballot name of this bloc shall be "Communists of Russia".
We certainly welcome this unity plus an election bloc and wish them a resounding success.
Nevertheless, can we all imagine the resounding success that could have been achieved if there was a solid bloc of all Communists against the present regime?
A victory of the Communists would not automatically mean that the USSR and Socialism would be immediately resurrected. Internal and external enemies would unleash a terror campaign with NATO divisions ready to pounce in. But it would be the first step towards a revolution for the final overthrow of this hated regime.
